What is an Event Planner?

An Event Planner is a professionally skilled person who plans, organizes, arranges and coordinates events on behalf of corporations, associations, organizations, institutions, or private individuals. They are guaranteed to be with you every step of the way to plan the event or wedding of your dreams. They will be there to help plan out as little or as much of the day that you will need assistance with. When it comes to orchestrating an event, professional planners know exactly what needs to be done – and they know the most efficient way of doing it. Utilizing their creativity and resourcefulness, professional planners are able to turn even the most ordinary functions into extraordinary events.

Why should I hire a wedding consultant?

For many couples, it is their very first time planning a wedding. They are confused as to where to begin, how much everything costs, and how to choose vendors. Planning a wedding is not only about choosing your colors, flowers, and menu. There are logistical matters to attend to such as the timing of events, parking situations, and knowing which vendors are reputable. We are here to guide you and to take care of all of these concerns. We are able to help save you time and money as well as your sanity so you can actually enjoy your wedding day!

Why should I hire Favored by Yodit Events?

We are here to make your event perfect and stress free by guiding you step-by-step through the planning process. From selecting a location for the event to planning the menu, booking entertainment or speakers, issuing invitations, deciding on decorations, and making travel or accommodation arrangements for attendees if required, We will make it happen and when the day of the big event finally arrives, We will be on hand at your event to make sure it all runs smoothly. One of the many benefits of having Favored by Yodit Events assist you with your event is that we understand all the planning and logistics involved with delivering a successful event. Events like weddings, parties, meetings and fundraisers cannot “slip by or just happen.” Once you announce a date, there is almost no turning back. There are months, at times years, of planning, scheduling, negotiating and marketing that have to be done and you must to be ready. There are no do-over’s!

What types of events do you plan?

We plan all types of events including: weddings (Multi-cultural, Civil, Destination, Double Weddings, Eco-Friendly / Green, LGBT, Military), private parties, fundraisers, meetings and networking events. More information can be found on the Services Section.

Do you support or cater to any specific religions? We cater to all religions and beliefs.

Do you charge for an initial consultation?

Our initial consultation is complimentary. This is a chance for us to get to know each other to see if we’re a good fit to work together.

Do you charge an hourly rate, a flat rate or a percentage of my overall event budget? What is the retainer to secure your services?

It depends on the type of event. We do charge a flat rate for our standard event planning packages. In most cases, a retainer is required to secure our services. A fee schedule will be tailored to your needs prior to signing a contract.

What size special events have you coordinated in the past?

We have coordinated small dinner parties with less than ten people to special events and weddings with hundreds of guests.

How much communication will we have?

We have a policy to respond to all emails and phone messages in a timely manner. We aim to respond to all messages within 48 hours. Regardless of the service contracted for, all clients will have access to unlimited communication with our team.

How many weddings or events will the hired professional(s) coordinate per day?

We only contract one wedding or event per day per wedding consultant.

Will you be at my actual wedding day?

The wedding consultant you’ve contracted with will personally be at your event along with one assistant. We will have more assistants should you request that.

How do you dress for contracted events?

For special events and weddings, all consultants and assistants wear professional attire.

Will you eat and drink during the reception?

Since weddings can turn into 10, 12, and even 14-hour days, hot vendor meals during your reception are much appreciated. However, we are there to do a job and will not drink any alcohol.

Do you have any client references available that I can contact?

Yes. Client References are available upon request.

My venue has a planner, why do I need Favored by Yodit Events?

Although the planner at the venue will desire to help you, his/her first responsibility will be to the venue. If there is a problem in the kitchen and you need to be greeted and have your dress bustled, any venue challenge will take precedence. Your Favored by Yodit Event Planner works for you and will be there every step of the way to help. In addition, your Favored by Yodit planner is trained in helping you with the entire wedding weekend as opposed to just the part that relates to the venue.

How do I know which wedding planner to choose?

Your wedding is a costly and highly emotional event. Because of this you should select a planner that you feel will be a partner that will understand you, your communication style, and will be true to your vision. Meet with all planner candidates personally and be sure that you are meeting with the person who will actually be working with you. It will become quite clear to you who is a trained professional and who makes you feel most at ease.

I have a clear vision and only need help in a few areas; does Favored by Yodit offer that type of service?

We offer a wide range or services. Some clients may only need a vision session consultation while another may want the ultimate in assistance. Favored by Yodit Events will gladly schedule a complimentary consultation and help you decide what services will meet your needs and budget.

I am worried that a planner will not listen to my ideas, what if we disagree?

We work for our clients. Certainly we bring what we have found to be successful to you, but we want your event to be customized and to represent you. Your guests should arrive and think how much the events reflect the bride and groom or client, not who the planner was. In fact some of our favorite parts of past celebrations have come from our clients initial ideas!

Great! Please fill out the form on the Contact Page to schedule a consultation. When we meet we will discuss your ideas, needs, and budget in order to provide you with the perfect suite of planning services. Once we agree on the services, a signed contract and deposit will secure your event date.

Where are you located? In what markets do you work?

Our office is located in Northern Virginia, but we are very active throughout the entire Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. We also travel outside of the region, and have planned events for clients in New York and Internationally in the past.

Do you have a business license?

Yes, Favored by Yodit Events is a corporation and holds a business license in the State of Virginia.

What types of payments do you accept?

We accept cash, money order, credit card and Paypal upon request.

Do you work with other planners?

Yes. I have worked with other planners for prior events. It all depends on the size and level of detail required for the event. Nonetheless, when working with other planners or assistants, there has to be effective collaboration in order to obtain the ultimate goal of delivering the client’s dream event.

Do you offer internships?

We do! We bring on interns twice a year- during our “high seasons”- in the Fall/Winter and Spring/ Summer. Internships length varies. Resumes can be submitted at anytime to yodit@favoredbyyodit.com. Can I shadow an event planner?

Yodit loves to give opportunities for people who love the event planning industry. She is open to educate fellow planners on what has been more, and yes, less, successful throughout her career. Some of her favorite topics to speak on include: event logistics, timing and flow, design philosophy choosing and working with the best team for your clients, managing a team of planners and social media success strategies.
